The Racing League brings an exciting new format of flat horse racing to the UK this summer as a series of six evening meets with fan engagement at the centre of the events. The Racing League are looking for sponsors who want to take advantage of the technology and audience engagement – contact Reg&Co. Sponsorship Agency for more information.
The new project is the brainchild of Championship Horse Racing, led by former Swindon Town FC chairman Jeremy Wray.
The format for the series will see 12 teams, each with a stable of 30 horses, compete for the title of inaugural Racing League champion across six meets taking place on Thursday evenings at Doncaster, Lingfield, Newcastle and Royal Windsor racecourses, with the first event starting on 16 July.
The Racing League will see jockeys obliged to carry the whip purely for safety and correction purposes under BHA ‘hands and heels’ conditions, which have been used in a series for apprentice jockeys and it’s this rule that’s gaining the league further media attention as it’s what the fans have been asking for.
The Racing League is excited about the engagement opportunity of the league as a whole: “it will bring increased levels of innovation, fan engagement and accessibility to British horse racing.”
Sky Sports Racing has been named as the broadcast partner and the series are now looking for sponsors and partners to take advantage of the high levels of fan engagement and the technology-enabled format which will build the audience like never before.
